Three steps, about a minute

How to win the $300.

01

Make a free account

Email and password, about a minute, in the app or right in your browser. Creating the account does not enter you: each verified catch you log during the window is an entry.

02

Catch it and shoot it

Any eligible species, any public water in Utah. Lay the fish on a measuring board with the nose at zero so the length is readable in the photo, then put the fish back.

03

Log it before August 31

Every verified catch you log in the window is entered automatically, and you can enter as many catches as you like. The longest verified catch wins, ties go to the catch logged earliest, and the winner is announced in early September.

Everything happens in the app. There is no weigh-in, no check-in, and no event to attend. This is a contest of skill, not a game of chance: there is no drawing, no raffle, and no random element of any kind.

Step one takes a minute. The other two happen on the water.

Free to enter, no purchase necessary, skill contest only: open to legal residents of Utah 18 or older with a valid Utah fishing license, August 1 to August 31, 2026 Mountain Time. Official rules at fishclub.com/rules.

No entry fee, no advantage to buy

You do not need a great month. You need one long fish.

This is not a points race and it is not decided by who fishes the most days. It comes down to the single longest verified fish in Utah, so one good morning in August can take the whole thing. Enter as many catches as you like. Only your best one counts, and the rules are the same for everybody.

Free to enter

Every competition is free. No entry fee, no Pro required, nothing to buy. Your free account is your ticket. No purchase improves your chances of winning, and Pro members are judged by exactly the same standard as free accounts.

Decided by verified catches

Longest verified catch in the window wins. Same measurement photo, same review team, same standards as every record on the boards. This is a contest of skill, not a game of chance: no drawing, no raffle, no random element of any kind.

Catch, photo, release

Competition fish go back in the water after the photo. The board remembers so the fishery does not have to. A fish kept as part of an entry is not eligible.

Straight answers

The questions everybody asks.

Is it actually free?

Yes. No entry fee, no card, and nothing to buy at any point. A free Fish Club account is the entry.

How do I know it is not rigged?

Winners are decided by inches, not opinions. Every entry needs a measurement photo with the fish on a board and the nose at zero, and a person on our review team checks it against the same standard as every record on the boards. If two anglers tie on length, the catch logged first wins.

Do I have to be a serious angler?

No. The contest counts your single longest fish, not your gear, your boat, or how often you get out. One trip is enough to enter.

Do I have to keep the fish?

No, and you cannot. Competition fish go back in the water after the photo. A fish kept as part of an entry is not eligible.

Do I need Pro?

No. Pro is not required to enter or win, and Pro members get no competitive advantage in any competition.

How much work is it?

One photo per catch. Everything happens in the app: there is no form to fill out, no check-in, no weigh-in, and no event to attend. Every verified catch you log during the window is entered automatically.

What happens if I win?

We reach you through your account and the email on file. You confirm your age and Utah residency, then the $300 goes out by check or transfer within 30 days.

Before your next trip

A fish you catch before your account exists cannot be entered.

Only catches logged inside the window count, so the account has to exist before the fish does. Set it up now and every trip you take in August is already entered. There is a second reason to be early: if two anglers tie on length, the catch logged first wins, so being set up ahead of time is worth inches.

Nothing to lose either way. Every account created this year carries the Founder badge permanently, no one after you can earn it, and handles are first come, first served.
