Fish Club
Competition Rules
Last updated: July 28, 2026
These are the official rules for every Fish Club competition. Each competition is announced on the Competitions page with its own state, dates, eligible species, and prize. That announcement plus these rules are the complete terms. No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter or win, and a purchase does not improve your chances of winning.
1.The basics
Competitions are sponsored by Fish Club LLC, Utah, USA. Reach us any time at support@fishclub.com.
Apple is not a sponsor of, and is not involved in, any Fish Club competition in any manner. The same is true of Google. Fish Club competitions are also in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Meta, Facebook, Instagram, or Reddit, and by entering you fully release each of those platforms from all liability related to any competition.
Fish Club competitions are contests of skill. Winners are decided only by verified catches. There are no drawings, no raffles, and no element of chance.
2.Who can enter
- You must be 18 or older when you enter. Younger anglers can still compete for crowns, badges, and every leaderboard in Fish Club; cash competitions are adults only.
- You must be a legal resident of the United States. A competition announcement may limit entry to legal residents of the named state; when it does, only those residents may enter or win that competition.
- You need a Fish Club account. Accounts are free. Fish Club Pro is not required to enter or win, and Pro members receive no competitive advantage.
- You must hold a valid fishing license for the state where you fish and follow all fishing regulations, water access rules, and laws that apply to you.
- Employees of Fish Club LLC and members of their immediate households may not enter.
- Void where prohibited or restricted by law.
3.What each competition covers
Every competition announcement states the competition window, the state whose public waters count, the prize, and which species are eligible. A competition may be open to any species or limited to one, for example biggest brown trout or biggest largemouth bass. If the announcement limits species or waters, only catches matching that scope count.
4.How to enter
- Catch an eligible fish in a public water in the named state during the competition window.
- Log the catch in Fish Club during the window with a measurement photo that meets our verification standards: full fish on a board or tape, nose at the zero mark, length readable, no edits.
- Release the fish promptly after your photos. Fish Club competitions are catch, photo, and release. A fish kept as part of a competition entry is not eligible. If the regulations for a water require you to keep or kill a fish you catch, always follow the law; that fish is simply not eligible for competition entry.
- Enter as many catches as you like. Every verified catch you log during the window counts.
- Competitions take place entirely in the app. There is no physical event, gathering, check-in, or weigh-in.
5.How the winner is decided
- The winner is the angler with the longest catch verified by the Fish Club review team that meets these rules and the competition announcement.
- Ties go to the catch logged earliest.
- Verification decisions by our review team are final, including disqualification of any entry or angler for fraud, misrepresentation, rule violations, or violations of the Fish Club Terms of Service.
6.The prize
- The prize is stated in the competition announcement.
- We notify the winner through their Fish Club account and the email on file. The winner must respond within 14 days or the prize passes to the next eligible angler.
- Before we pay, the winner confirms eligibility: age, and state residency when the announcement limits residency. If eligibility cannot be confirmed, the prize passes to the next eligible angler.
- Prizes are paid by check or electronic transfer within 30 days of confirmation.
- Taxes on prizes are the winner's responsibility. If your total Fish Club winnings in a calendar year reach the IRS reporting threshold, we are required to collect a completed IRS Form W-9 before paying and to report the winnings on Form 1099.
- Prizes are not transferable.
- To learn who won a competition, email support@fishclub.com within 60 days of the competition's end.
7.Safety and fair play
- Fish safely and legally. Never trespass, never fish closed waters, and never take risks for a fish. You fish at your own risk, as described in our Terms of Service.
- Handle fish with speed and care: wet hands, minimal air time, quick release.
- Any attempt to cheat, including staged or altered photos, false measurements, false locations, or entries caught outside the competition window or scope, means disqualification and may mean a permanent ban.
8.Publicity and privacy
By entering, you agree that if you win, Fish Club may announce your username, your catch, and its photo on the Fish Club site, app, and social channels. We will not publish your legal name or contact information without your permission, and we will never use your name, photo, or catch in paid advertising without your separate written permission. Personal information is handled according to our Privacy Policy.
9.General
- We may update these rules for future competitions at any time. Changes never apply to a competition already underway.
- We may cancel or suspend a competition if fraud, technical failure, or any cause beyond our control compromises its integrity. If that happens before any eligible entry exists, no prize is awarded; otherwise the prize is awarded based on eligible entries received.
- By entering, you release Fish Club LLC and its team from any claim arising from your participation in a competition, to the fullest extent the law allows.
- These rules are governed by Utah law. Any dispute is handled as described in the Fish Club Terms of Service, starting with informal resolution.
